AstroSong (“AstroSong,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) creates custom songs from your birth‑chart details. This Privacy Policy explains what we collect, how we use and share it, and your choices. It applies to our website and checkout at astro‑song.com (the “Site”), and to our customer support channels, worldwide.

If you do not agree with this Policy, please do not use the Site or provide personal information.

1) Information we collect

A. Information you provide to us

  • Contact & order details: name, email address, billing details (processed by our payment provider), order notes.

  • Questionnaire content (to create your AstroSong): date of birth, time of birth (if known), city/country of birth, names/pronouns of the subject(s), relationships (e.g., “gift to my partner”), anecdotes or themes you submit, and preferences such as musical style and tone.

  • Couple/Synastry orders: you may provide personal data of a second person. You confirm you have permission to share their details.

  • Files you send: optional photos, voice notes or other material (if you choose to upload any).

  • Communications: messages you send us (email/support) and revision requests.

  • Newsletter/marketing: your email and preferences if you subscribe.

Sensitive information. Birth date, birth time, and birthplace can be considered sensitive in some jurisdictions. We use them only to prepare your chart and write your song.

B. Information collected automatically

  • Device & usage data: IP address, device/browser type, pages viewed, time on page, referring/exit pages, cookies, pixel data, UTM parameters, and similar analytics.

  • Approximate location (derived from IP).

  • Crash/diagnostic logs.

C. Information from third parties

  • Commerce & payments: our ecommerce platform and payment processor (e.g., Shopify Payments) provide us with order confirmations, payment status (no full card numbers), risk/fraud signals, and basic customer data.

  • Advertising & analytics partners: aggregated performance metrics and audience insights (e.g., Meta, Google, or similar, if pixels are installed).

2) How we use your information

We use personal information to:

  • Provide the service: interpret your chart, write/produce your AstroSong, deliver MP3 and lyrics PDF, manage revisions, and provide support.

  • Operate the Site & checkout: authenticate sessions, process payments, prevent fraud, and keep the Site secure.

  • Communicate with you: service emails, delivery notifications, revision steps, and customer support.

  • Personalize & improve: understand usage, fix issues, and develop new features.

  • Marketing (where permitted): send newsletters or special offers; you can opt out anytime.

  • Legal & compliance: enforce our Terms, comply with law, and protect our rights and users.

We do not use your birth details to target ads. They are used solely to create your song.

3) How we share information

We do not sell personal information for money. We share limited data with:

  • Service providers (“processors”): ecommerce & hosting platforms, payment processors, email service providers, analytics, and customer‑support tools—only as needed to perform services for us under contract.

  • Advertising & analytics partners: cookies/pixels may enable cross‑context behavioral advertising; this may be considered “sharing” under certain privacy laws (see Section 9).

  • Business transfers: in connection with a merger, acquisition, or asset sale.

  • Legal/disclosure: to comply with law, enforce our agreements, or protect AstroSong, our customers, or others.

  • With your consent: e.g., if you approve a public testimonial or allow us to feature a reaction.

We do not disclose your birth time/place to advertising partners.

4) Cookies & tracking technologies

We use cookies and similar technologies to keep you signed in, remember preferences, measure performance, and (where permitted) run advertising/retargeting.

Your choices:

  • Use our cookie banner/preferences (where available) to opt in/out of non‑essential cookies.

  • Adjust browser settings to block or delete cookies (site functionality may be limited).

  • We recognize Global Privacy Control (GPC) signals to treat them as an opt‑out of “sale/share” where legally required.

  • “Do Not Track” is not standardized; we currently do not respond to DNT signals.

5) Data retention

We keep personal information only as long as needed for the purposes described above:

  • Order and accounting records: as required by law (e.g., tax and bookkeeping).

  • Creative files (song/lyrics) and questionnaire details: for service and support; you may request deletion at any time (subject to legal/business necessities).

  • Marketing: until you unsubscribe; we keep a suppression list to honor opt‑outs.

6) Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information (HTTPS, access controls, and vetted vendors). No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.

7) Children’s privacy

The Site is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child under 13 provided information, contact us and we will delete it.

8) International users & data transfers

We are based in the United States and process data in the US. If you are located outside the US, your information will be transferred to and processed in the US (and possibly other countries where our providers operate). Where applicable (e.g., EU/UK/Swiss data), we rely on Standard Contractual Clauses or similar safeguards with our vendors.

9) Your privacy rights

A. US State rights (e.g., CA/CPRA, CO, CT, VA, UT)

Depending on your state, you may have the right to:

  • Access/know the categories and specific pieces of personal information we collected about you.

  • Delete personal information.

  • Correct inaccurate personal information.

  • Portability of data you provided.

  • Opt out of targeted advertising (cross‑context behavioral advertising) and certain profiling.

  • Opt out of “sale” or “sharing” of personal information (we do not sell; we may “share” cookie/pixel identifiers for ads).

  • Limit use/disclosure of sensitive personal information (we use birth details only to provide the service and do not use them for advertising).

To exercise any right, email hello@astro-song.com with “Privacy Request” in the subject and include your name, the email used on your order, your request, and your state of residence. We will verify your identity (e.g., via email confirmation or order details) and respond within the time required by law. You may use an authorized agent where permitted.

California: You can also opt out of “sale/share” via our cookie preferences (or by emailing us with “California Opt‑Out”). We do not knowingly sell or share personal information of consumers under 16.

B. EU/UK GDPR rights (if applicable)

If GDPR applies, our legal bases include contract (to deliver your order), legitimate interests (security, analytics, improvements), consent (marketing cookies/emails where required), and legal obligations. You may request access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, and objection to processing, and withdraw consent where processing is based on consent. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority.

10) Additional California notice (CPRA)

Categories collected: identifiers (name, email, IP, device IDs), customer records (contact/order info), commercial information (orders), internet/network activity (usage, cookie data), approximate geolocation (from IP), and birth details (treated as sensitive information).
Sources: directly from you; automatically via your device; from our vendors (payments/ecommerce/analytics).
Purposes: as described in Section 2.
Disclosures: to service providers; to advertising/analytics partners via cookies/pixels.
Sale/Share: we do not sell personal information; we may share online identifiers with ad partners for cross‑context advertising unless you opt out.
Sensitive personal information: birth date/time/place are used only to create your AstroSong; we do not use them to infer characteristics for advertising.
Retention: as outlined in Section 5.

11) Third‑party sites & social media

Our Site may link to third‑party websites, apps, or social platforms. Their privacy practices are their own; please review their policies.

12) Changes to this Policy

We may update this Policy from time to time. We will post the new effective date above. Material changes will be highlighted on the Site or emailed where appropriate.
